چکیده

Using immuno electron microscopy we have identified a number of calmodulin/calmodulin binding proteins distributed at various subcellular sites (Eastlake et al, 1994). Treatment of H. diminuta with trifluoperazine has potential cestocidal properties influencing both tegumental protein release, activity of calmodulindependent enzymes and the uptake of glucose (Branford White & Hipkiss, 1985; Hipkiss & Branford White, 1986). In this study we report that treatment in vivo of H. diminuta inflected rats with trifluoperazine influences the distribution of tegument membrane associated enzymes.

Establishment of Hymenolepis diminuta Life Cycle to Provide Parasite Mass Production

BACKGROUND The main object of this experimental work was to practise laboratory production both adult and the larval stage of Hymenolepis diminuta with conventional modification to make further studies easier. MATERIALS #ENTITYSTARTX00026; METHOD Adults H. diminuta were collected from urban rats in Tehran, Iran. The beetles became infected using blended gravid segments with flour as bait. Cy...

In Vitro Anthelmintic Effects of Senna Occidentalis (l.) Link (leguminosae) on Rat Tapeworm Hymenolepis Diminuta

Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the anthelmintic activity of ethanolic leaf extract of Senna occidentalis on rat tapeworm Hymenolepis diminuta. Methods: Adult H. diminuta worms were obtained from laboratory maintained infection in rats. Different concentrations of crude ethanolic leaf extracts of S. occidentalis were tested in vitro on H. diminuta and praziquantel (PZQ) was used...

The development of Hymenolepis diminuta tapeworms of inbred line WMS il1 in rats of the WAG alb. race in primary and secondary infections of varying intensity

Following its termination by the antihelminthic Yomesan, a primary infection due to the administration of 50 H. diminuta cysticercoids has no significant influence on the abundance, length or dry mass of tapeworms in a secondary infection of 7, 13 and 42 days, or 8 months duration in WAG alb. rats. Crowded primary and secondary tapeworm infections experienced only slightly greater proportional ...

The antioxidant defence mechanisms of parasite and host after chronic Hymenolepis diminuta infestation of the rat.

The aim of the present study was to determine antioxidant defence mechanisms in the rat and Hymenolepis diminuta after long-term infestation. We determined levels of oxidative stress markers, and activity of antioxidant enzymes in the rat small intestine and in particular parts of H. diminuta. Observed changes in antioxidant enzymes activity in H. diminuta and the rat intestine indicate the def...
